Zarah tries to find some meaning in her life. Eventually she is reunited with the film crew to celebrate the final day of the new film. Florian is at bursting point having to live under such repression. Zarah wants him to move in with her so they can give each other support. The Gestapo have discovered that Florian's wife is Jewish. Doctor Wiese demands that he must either get a divorce or give up his career with UFA films. In reply Florian says he wishes to convert to Judaism. He leaves. Zarah is astounded. Yet the Nazis continue with their plans for her.
